I'm in Japan!

I have just landed in Osaka and I am taking advantage of the free WLAN internet at the airport to check out this dear blog I was unable to access during my time in China!

I've resorted to writing in my little booklet, on paper, with a good old-fashioned pen. It's been a good way to keep track of what's going on and how the whole trip has started bubbling inside me (literally... I spent some time in the hospital with quite a bad case of diarrhoea...) but I don't know how soon I'll get back to typing it all up on the computer and posting it here.

Oh, but it's been odd not to be able to access the Internet as freely as I am used to it. Even my regular mail got quite strange after a week so I had to move over to Gmail completely.

China (or perhaps more precisely Shanghai) is surely a land of contradictions: on the one hand they have taken the best the world has to offer yet on the other hand they have some of the worst things going on on this lovely blue planet lost somewhere in the universe.

Ha, but Japan feels like another planet altogether!
Even though I am still unable to understand the language nor the signs posted here and there, everything is completely different. Everything works intelligently, logically, sensibly. It feels as if, for the first time in my Life, I have landed amongst intelligent human beings.... ;-)

Let's see how it goes on from here!
